My Work Experience

Things have changed a little...

Aug 2012 - PresentCNC Machinist

DH Tool & Die - Commerce Township, MI

I have officially retired from taking on any public work at all for web design or development and have returned to my trusty machining background, working in a tool & die shop in Commerce Township, MI. I have officially closed The Red House. I am concentrating on AutoCAD and various CAM packages. For any of my previous customers needing any support, feel free to email me for assistance. I will help where I can. Thanks for a great run! But those days are over and I enjoy getting up and going somewhere ELSE to work! :)

June 2005 - Aug 2012Freelance Web Designer

The Red House - Detroit, MI

This is my own freelance consultancy, running in some form or fashion since 1997. Things started out as a business card & forms for print design service. By 2000, I was doing nothing but web design and development. Since then, I have built several ecommerce sites using many different ecommerce platforms, both ecommerce and informational based web design as well as custom programming, primarily for lead generation and marketing purposes. I am currently working on getting some of my stuff up on the Envato Marketplaces, as well.

Feb 2009 - Dec 2011Technical Consultant

WebsiteForge, LLC. - Fowlerville, MI

A friend from high school owns this company and since we got back in touch, I have been doing consulting for a number of items for this company. I have done technical support consulting for their staff, created templates for their template system and even handled their chat support desk full-time for a year! I am currently working on a project called WFChop.com where I will be creating templates and writing html from PSD images for use within WF for sale. These are premium quality templates, designed from scratch and strictly for WF! We also do PSD to WF conversions as well.

Jan 2001 - May 2009Senior Web Designer

Internet Marketing Advantage, Inc. - Shirley, New York

This company has now closed down their design department due to the owner retiring and basically just taking care of the marketing services for a few close clients. While we have not had a project from them in quite some time now, we want to recognize the decade we did business with this company!

My Business Philosophy

Since you asked...

I think the qulaity of a service oriented business is integral to it's success or failure. In an effort to provide the highest quality digital creative products, I use today's web standards for every project I work on. I am also fond of the 960 Grid System, allowing most any web designer to come in behind me and work on my stuff. I validate via W3C's validator. Clean code is an art, in my humble opinion. I try to offer those types of products with the very highest quality level possible.

My Personal Side

Yeah, I'm a big softie...

I think it comes from being a dad. I have an awesome son who is 17 years old and living down in Tennessee with his mom as well as two gorgeous daughters here. The girls are actually my soon to be "step-kids", but they're mine. Madi calls me "Daddy" all the time and Dani does occasionally, too! I've been playing live music in bands since I was 15. Started on guitar at 9. Love to shoot stuff, ride motorcycles and play music! Dig cooking, too. Can't ya tell by the guy up there in the pic?

My Ongoing Education

University of Phoenix - Web Design & Development

It's currently "on hiatus" and I am definitely considering changing my degree, but when I DO graduate, it will be from University of Pheonix. My degree will be in some sort of flavor of creative services.
